These probes enable a rail to be inspected directly on the production line or in operation, using an on-board system. Several rotating probes are placed around the rail to inspect its various surfaces.
For 100% rail inspection, sectorial probes can be added to inspect areas not covered by the rotating probes, particularly at the ends. Each rotating system is connected to different Zet@Master generators. An electronic device has been implemented to compensate for the distance variation between the rail and the Eddy Current rotating probe. This non-linear gain is automatically and constantly applied to each channel of the probe according to their position. This equipment can work at a very high rotation speeds of up to 10 000 RPM.
Three categories of probes can be used to carry out various rail checks in operation and thus detect head check, crack or squat defects:
Eddy Current rotating probes
For this equipment CONTROLE MESURE SYSTEMES has received the Deutsch Bahn certification.
Ultrasonic probes
For the detection of internal defects on rails in operation, we combine several technologies, such as single-element probes with conventional electronics or multi-element probes with Phased Array electronics, depending on the speed required.
This new workspace, costing around 2.2 million euros, will enable CONTROLE MESURE SYSTEMES to increase its production capacity, develop its business by conquering new markets, and thus reinforce its position as leader in the NON-DESTRUCTIVE CONTROLE sector.
