Immersion Tank

The Ultrasonic immersion tank is a fully integrated system designed for core inspections using conventional or Phased Array Ultrasonic electronics.

It can accommodate a wide range of parts, such as motor disks, bars, billets, and plates, with a simple, ergonomic, and efficient parameter-setting interface.

High-performance Ultrasonic testing allows multiple sensors to operate simultaneously, enabling examinations at various depths to be performed in a single pass.

The immersion tank is composed by a stainless steel construction with viewing windows, high-capacity water conditioning system and water skimmer.

The immersion tank integrates all essential components: the Ultrasonic device, scanning mechanics, and motion control system.

Tank Immersion systems meet the requirements of current European and international standards (ASTM, API, DIN, SEP, BS, ISO, ASME, ASNT…), calibration standards and comply with NF EN ISO 22232-1.

Several tank configurations are available to suit different product inspection requirements.

MAIN ADVANTAGES

  • High-precision scanning allowing to go back on a defect (known location)
  • High performance Ultrasonic control with one or several sensors to perform a multi-point inspection in a single pass
  • Excellent subsurface resolution
  • Ability to program parts off-line from an imported a CAO model
  • Fully integrated system including Ultrasonic device, scanning mechanics and motion control
  • Analysis of the signals during the scan (allow the retrieval of A-Scans and the creation of B-Scans and C-Scans)
  • Allows the creation of precise inspection reports thanks to high-performance CMS software

  • Operating Principle

The part to be inspected is immersed inside the water tank, itself supported by a sturdy stainless steel frame.

A robot with up to 7 coordinated and programmable axes of movement is mounted on this frame (immersion tank with 3 axes + 2 axes for the manipulator + rotation of the plate). The translator thus moves in relation to the zones of interest (ROI) on the part to be inspected.

This architecture makes it possible to locate defects very precisely, and allows the operator to return to them in post-processing.

The inspection can be viewed in real-time thanks to Analis software dedicated to this kind of application. Once the inspection has been completed, an inspection report is issued. This ensures traceability of the inspection for each part, and provides information via A-Scan, B-Scan and C-Scan.
