Eddy Current inspection of the welding zone using sectorial magnetization

CONTROLE MESURE SYSTEMES offers Ultrasonic and Eddy Current Non-Destructive Testing systems for the inspection of a wide range of applications.

A complete system for eddy current inspection of the welding zone has been delivered and installed at one of our customers’ sites.

It comprises a sectorial magnetizing unit, a Zet@Micro Eddy Current instrument, an encoder, a marking system and a range of sectorial probes, Ø 25 to 52 mm.

The sectorial magnetizing unit magnetically saturates the weld zone, enabling inspection with a sectorial probe over the same area. It detects both small defects (holes and cracks) and long defects such as discontinuities or open welds.

This turnkey equipment is generally installed on the existing production line, after the welded tube forming station.

Once created, the welded tube passes under the sectorial probe, which hugs the surface. When a defect is detected, the impedance of the probe changes, triggering an alarm on the control screen.

Results are displayed in real time on the Zet@Micro instrument. Inspection data is then collected by our production software to create comprehensive reports to ensure full traceability of the inspection.

  • Key benefits of this equipment
  • Easy integration on production line
  • High sensitivity
  • Unlimited inspection speed
  • Low maintenance
  • Robust construction
